Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive, Live Happy

If you know me, you know I hate being talked down to.  I’m even skeptic at Stop Signs, ‘is it telling me what to do?’  So when my mom walked in and tossed me a Chicken Soup for the Soul book and said, “read this,”  I instinctively smirked, “I’m good,” and placed it aside.  She picked it back up and tossed it at me again, “I didn’t ask you to, I’m telling you to.”

It’s my mom.  I read it.

Since then, 20 years ago, I’ve read them all.  All the original volumes, the teen ones, the African-American ones, the pregnant mom ones, the cat lovers, dog lovers, NASCAR, Christmas in Canada…all of them.  The fact that they’re short stories made them more appealing as I can skip around from subject to subject and read as I see fit.  And those past 20 years, my mom and I exchanged those books and stories and once I began working for Barnes & Noble that made those exchanges more frequent.

My mom passed away last year and soon after, I submitted a story for the series.

It was accepted.

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Think Positive. Live Happy.
